CHC S educators assess student reading throughout the year. We use Fountas and PInnell reading levels to help readers track their progress and continue developing. The levels are aligned with grades. It is our philosophy that the library is a space where students are encouraged to explore books regardless of level. Students are taught to self-select books that they are comfortable reading, but are not forbidden from circulating books that are "too easy" or "too hard." All classrooms are equipped with leveled libraries that students can borrow from in order to practice intentionally with books at their level. Also, the Scholastic Book Wizard can be used to determine the levels of books your child brings home. |
